About

Thomson Brothers was founded 35 years ago in 1989 by Luke Thomson. Luke and his family are long-time residents in the Barbican. Luke’s eye for design, along with his meticulous attention to detail has been maintained as the company’s ethos throughout its expansion. Today’s company is very proud to be the leading specialist in the sympathetic refurbishment of properties within the iconic Barbican Estate and the City of London.

Thomson Brothers provide a complete design, manufacture, installation and project management service for all types of properties and interior refurbishments. Through years of experience Thomson Brothers has become an expert at navigating the intricacies and peculiarities of the Barbican Estate’s requirements for refurbishing properties. Thomson Brothers submit all relevant paperwork and permissions, ensure compliance with up-to-date building control regulations, co-ordinate with district surveyors and obtain final sign-offs and completion documents. Every project is made as stress-free as possible for each client. Although most projects are within Barbican and the wider London area, projects further afield are frequently undertaken too.

Being great admirers of the Brutalist architecture of the Barbican Estate, Thomson Brothers’ projects are carried out with genuine sympathy to the renowned original designs. Each project is completed with professionalism and care by a conscientious team of craftsmen.

Thomson Brothers manufacture its bespoke furniture for each project at its modern factory located in Hertfordshire. State-of-the-art CNC machinery, combined with a team of vastly experienced carpenters produce the high-end bespoke furniture.

The Thomson Brothers design and administrative team is based in its London office, located near the Barbican Tube Station, at 78/79 Long Lane, London, EC1A 9ET.
